Pro/Con Issues

This guide is intended to help you research topics of controversy. Since classes in various disciplines often have assignments of this nature, this library guide is intended to be multidisciplinary.

Introduction

This Pro/Con library guide includes links to various resources that can help you with your research whether you're looking for books, e-books, streaming video, encyclopedia or journal articles.  Additionally, there is a Citation Aid guide below with information and links concerning best practices in citation as well as tutorials in conducting research.

Additional Resources:

  • MAGNOLIA is a statewide consortium funded by the Mississippi Legislature. Most of the databases Hinds uses are provided via this consortium.
  • MELO -- or Mississippi Electronic Libraries Online -- is a virtual library developed to meet academic resource needs of distance learning within the Mississippi community and junior colleges. It is an electronic environment that mirrors the traditional library through online databases, electronic books and journals, and scholarly web sites.
  • WorldCat is the world’s largest library catalog. More than 10,000 libraries (including Hinds) have their holdings on WorldCat.
