The Writing Center is a free tutorial service where students can receive assistance with any type of writing assignment during any stage of the process! Visit a Writing Center either face-to-face, virtually (online with video and audio), or by submitting your completed essay for written feedback. The centers do take walk-in appointments if a tutor is available, but, if you can, reserve a session ahead of time using the specific center's scheduling portal (below).
See the tutorial videos below to learn how to schedule, edit, or cancel an appointment as well as how to attend an online appointment. Also, see below for the different center locations, contact information, and specific links for each center's schedule.

Although the centers are listed by location, students can use the online services and and written feedback services of any center. Students at the Nursing/Allied Health Center are encouraged to use the Jackson ATC Writing Center for online or face-to-face assistance.
For online appointments, once you have made the appointment, open your yellow appointment "box" at the time of your session and click "start or join online consultation." Make sure you have headphones or minimal noise around you and Wi-Fi.
For written feedback appointments, attach your essay to the appointment along with any other assignment information the tutor may need. You will get an email once they have reattached the feedback to the appointment.

There are different options for students who want to become trained peer tutors. If you are interested in work study, Honors contracts, or even volunteering your time for community service or some extra credit - visit the center on your campus and talk with the coordinator or email Cynthia Whittington at cdwhittington@hindscc.edu. We will be happy to answer any of your questions!
