Last Name, F. M. (Year). Title of book: Capital letter for the first word in title and subtitle. Edition [if given]. 

                             Publisher city: Publisher state abbreviation: Publisher. 

Example: 

Young, J. A. & Sparks, A. B. (1985).  Cattle in the cold desert.  Reno, NV: University of Nevada Press. 

 

Articles

Last Name, F. M.  (Year).  Title of article.  Title of journal, Volume (Issue).  Page numbers.  DOI: Number or Retrieved from URL. 

Example: 

Hughes, H. (2017).  Analyzing your herd's production facts.  BEEF, 54 (3).  6-8. 

 

Websites

Last Name, F. M.  (Year, Month & Date).  Article title.  Retrieved from URL.

Example:

  • APA only capitalizes the first word of titles and subtitles.  
  • Italicize the titles of books and journal volumes.
  • When italicizing journals, italicize the volume number, but not the issue number.  
  • Use hanging indent on the second line.
  • Use double space.
  • Alphabetize your citations by the first letter of the author's last name
